Youth Justice

Every child deserves another chance

Plan and Grow are committed to providing young children in the justice system with stable, culturally connected, long term placement through a trauma informed and child focused lens.

Plan and Grow's unique Safe Community Living Program is designed using evidence-based practices, offering a customised approach that focuses on each child's abilities, culture, strengths and dreams.

The program involves consultation with the child in detention and key stakeholders.  A treatment plan is developed which becomes the core focus for the child and caregivers post detention.  Caregivers and the child are encouraged to seek support from Plan and Grow Youth Justice Officers during the application of treatment plan strategies.

The Safe Community Living Program was developed so each young person is supported in a way that upholds their rights, ensures service delivery meets the child's unique and complex needs and a therapeutic approach is applied, ultimately aiming at a reduction of recidivism, paving a pathway away from the justice system towards the life of lawful citizenship and enjoyment of life outside of the cycle repeat offending.

Our unique program has been successful in reducing the number of children in detention (Banksia Hill Detention Centre).
