The Power and Control Wheel

The Power and Control Wheel, created by the Domestic Abuse Intervention Project in Duluth, illustrates the tactics used in abusive relationships.

It shows how abusive partners combine subtle, ongoing behaviours (depicted in the inner part of the wheel) with more overt acts of physical and sexual violence (shown in the outer ring) to dominate and control their partners.

The wheel highlights that domestic violence isn't just about physical harm but is part of a broader pattern of coercive behaviours aimed at maintaining power and control over the victim.

"See What You Made Me Do." - Jess Hill

Jess Hill’s investigative journalism series, "See What You Made Me Do," delves into the deeply complex issue of domestic and sexual violence in Australia.

Through her work, Hill shifts the focus from blaming victims to holding perpetrators and the systems that enable them accountable. By asking critical questions like “Why did HE do it?” instead of “Why didn’t she leave?”, Hill challenges societal norms and perceptions about domestic abuse.

The significance of the show lies in its ability to educate the public, empower survivors, and push for systemic change.

The series is not only crucial for raising awareness but also provides survivors and those currently struggling with the tools, resources, and understanding they need to seek help and feel supported.
